Seeing as it's winter here in Minnesota and there's both snow and cold in our immediate forecast, is there anything more annoying than waiting for your car windows to defrost? Here are a few science-based tips to speed things up.

The gang over at Gizmodo recently looked some studies NASA did and applied the scientific principles involved in why your windshield frosts up in the first place -- and how to speed up the process of defrosting it.

They found that the best method involves removing as much moisture as you can from your car. They recommend four basic steps, including:

  1. Turn heater on at full blast
  2. Turn AC on
  3. Turn off the inside air recirculation (have it set to bring in fresh air)
  4. Crack open the windows

It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. For the science involved, check out the video...
