Why and how I do Keto:

Not long ago, I got some bad news from the doctor. I am more prone to heart issues, high cholesterol and diabetes. While it wasn't overly surprising given my family heath issues, it was a hard pill to swallow. At that point, I decided I needed to do something, and stick with it.

I'm notorious for starting a diet, and giving up on it after a couple of weeks. I didn't want another fad, I wanted a lifestyle change! I had been hearing all about the Keto diet - the good, the bad, the ugly. Most say it's hard to keep up, but if you do, you have more energy and burn more fat! Challenge accepted!

Instead of being that overly strict, obsessed macro tracking person, I decided to take a more lax way. I'm very conscious about the carbs and sugar, but I don't track. Why? Because it gets old. The diet is already challenging enough as it is. Tracking to me makes it feel too much like work.

I stop eating early, and don't start eating again until after noon the next day. My normal day consists of two meals, and a snack or two in between. I eat clean - chicken, fish, vegetables. No bread, little to no sugar. When I need sugar, I head for the calorie/carb free sweetener.

Everyone is different! Some people won't be able to do the Keto diet without tracking. For me, it's all mind over matter. Eating less sugar will make you crave less sugar. Eating less carbs will allow your body to burn fat not the crap you eat. I know what I can and can't eat, and stick to it.

How am I doing? I've been at it now for about a month. I'm down 10 pounds, and honestly feel better than ever. I've had a few bad days while my body adjusts, but the good days far outweigh the bad. Plus, my workouts are more productive.
