Seeing as Thursday was Inventor's Day (celebrated each February 11th, on Thomas Edison's birthday), did you know that these famous inventions were made right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes?

We've all heard about how Post-It Notes were invented in Minnesota, of course, as well as other famous Minnesota things like SPAM, right? You might have heard how Tonka Trucks and the famous Nerf Footballs call Minnesota home too.

But, as it turns out, there are a lot more-- so many more, in fact, that a new book and website, called MN Invents, has been created and goes into a lot more detail about other inventions you may not have known were also from Minnesota.

Many things we use every day were invented here, like the first modern skyway, built between the 1st National Bank and Merchants Bank buildings in St. Paul. Or the first pop-up toaster, built in 1919 in a Minnesota factory. Or even the first retractable, locking seatbelt, designed back in 1963, right here in the North Star State.

Yes, Minnesota has a pretty fascinating history when it comes to inventions. Check out this KARE-11 story on MN Invents...
