Has there ever been a song with truer lyrics than, "I had a ball Friday, Saturday and Sunday but it's all over now and it sure is Monday?"

Yes, those are the words from the chorus of the Mark Chesnutt song, It Sure Is Monday, which was a number-one hit on the Billboard hot country charts back in August of 1993. I had just started working at WAXX, a country station in Eau Claire, WI, and can vividly remember playing that song off Mark's 'Almost Goodbye' CD. (Now, of course, everything is all wave forms and MP3's, stored for on-air playback on a massive hard drive. But back then, we played the actual CD on the air. Yes, I'm that old. Older, actually-- when I started at WXCO-AM in Wausau, WI, we played vinyl records. Yikes.)

Anyway, while it looks like Mark is still touring (he'll be in our neck of the woods at the Watering Hole in Green Bay on November 20th!) and has a new Christmas EP coming out, he hasn't had a big country hit for awhile now. But back in the early 90's, you heard him a lot on your local country station. And, THIS song, given what day it is, is this week's installment of Country Songs I Miss Playing! Enjoy the video. (and check out some awesome 90's clothes and hair, too...)
