Last Friday and Saturday were some pretty hot days here in Minnesota. But don't take my word for it, just check out the buckling pavement!

That's right, with temperatures Friday and Saturday well into the 90's - the first time we've seen that in about 3 years - we weren't the only ones feeling Mother Nature's effects. So was at least one Minnesota highway, where the high temperatures caused the pavement to buckle-- and send a few cars airborne in the process.

According to KARE-11, the pavement buckled along a section of Highway 36 near Edgerton Street on the border of Little Canada and St. Paul over the weekend. That, in turn, caused a few cars to grab some air when they unknowingly hit the newly-created 'ramp' in the highway. MnDOT cameras captured the action in the video below:

But that's not the only time the heat has wreaked havoc on highways here in the upper Midwest. Back when I still worked in Wisconsin about 4 years ago, a similar thing happened along Highway 29 in Chippewa County, only a few miles from the radio station. Only that buckle was big enough that it caused the SUV going over the buckled road to lose control and head across the median into the oncoming lane. They occupants were taken to the hospital, but luckily, they weren't seriously injured. Check it out...
