We've certainly been enjoying a much warmer-than-usual fall season so far in southeast Minnesota, but yes, the holidays are still rapidly approaching-- and it's starting to look like it here in Rochester.

Sure, many of us took advantage of the mild weather a few weeks to haul out the holiday decorations and put them up. I know I found it refreshing-- if not a little odd-- to not be freezing my fingers off while I was up on the ladder stringing up the holiday lights along our roof a few weekends ago already.

And seeing as we're now officially under a week until Thanksgiving (and the 'official' start of the holiday season), downtown Rochester is now also beginning to show signs that the holidays are on their way.

I spotted this two very distinct Christmas decorations already up and adorning the sights of downtown Thursday. That festive gold tinsel-like decoration was hanging from the skyway over First Avenue, just north of Second Street.

And, of course, the Christmas tree has been delivered and set up near the fountain on the Peace Plaza. I'm guessing neither of are lit up yet-- that'll happen next Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Either way, downtown Rochester is beginning to look a lot like Christmas-- even if it hasn't felt much like it lately!
