EARLY CHURCH with Steve Richards is a NEW Saturday Quick Country website feature which focuses on the early years of Eric Church. Look for the feature almost weekly, and on Steve's BIO page!

Eric Church has been defined as one with a bad-boy persona, a relentless taste for performing LIVE,  and as a country music force to be reckoned with. Church has received critical acclaim with regards to his song writing, and with the release of his last two studio albums, 'The Outsiders', and his platinum selling 'Chief' album and subsequent hits from BOTH those albums.

Steve Richards
has made it well known thru his Blog Post's at Quick Country DOT com, the Quick Country Facebook Page & Twitter Page that he is a loyal Eric Church fan who has seen Eric & his band perform 16 times in concert (and counting), and simply wishes to share the superb song writing nuggets of Eric's early years. Some may remember Eric's July 2006 performance at the Down By The Riverside Concert Series in Mayo Park following the release of his first album. (photo below)

EARLY CHURCH w/ Steve Richards focuses on Eric's early years, and will feature
a track from either the 2006 'Sinners Like Me' album release, or the 2009 'Carolina' Capital-Nashville effort, chocked-full of tasty song writing nuggets that may not have garnered radio hits like his most recent singles; but would certainly define his climb from obscurity from small clubs & venues to a major touring powerhouse delivering record-breaking attendance records, not to mention attracting a very loyal fan base who he himself is very loyal to as well.

Let me be your weekly guide to what just might be NEW MUSIC for you, but really it isn't! It just plain & simply, kicks a** ! -Steve

ERIC CHURCH LYRICS
"Guys Like Me"

I wear a greasy ball cap
I like my shirt untucked
I spend Saturdays working on my truck
I don't like to fight
But I ain't scared to bleed
Most don't mess with a guy like me

[Chorus:]
'Cause guys like me drink too many beers on Friday after work
Our best blue jeans have skoal rings
We wear our boots to church
So rough around the edges
It's hard to believe
That girls like you
Love guys like me

Your daddy worked at the bank
Mine worked on cars
You went to college
I pulled graveyard
You must have had your pick
Of all the trust fund types
But you came back to me and only God knows why

[Repeat Chorus]

Now there's a lot of guys like me out there
In a lot of little towns
And tellin' all our buddies, we won't ever settle down
We say thats just the way we are and the way we'll always be
So God sends girls like you for guys like me
Thank God there's girls like you, for guys like me
