The gang over at WalletHub is out with their annual rankings of how patriotic each state is, and here in Minnesota? Well, we're a little below average: we're ranked as the 29th most patriotic state. When it comes to our neighboring states, it's a split: Wisconsin's ahead of us at #18, while Iowa comes in below us at #31. South Dakota is ranked ahead of us at #20, but North Dakota's below us at #34.

So just how did they come up with these rankings? Well, they looked at two specific areas: Military engagement, which was made up of percentage of residents who are enlisted in active duty in the military, percentage of veterans in the state, and percentage of residents in the reserves.

They also looked at civic engagement, which took the percentage of each state's population that had voted in the last election, that volunteered in Americorps, and that met the state's civic education requirement.

Either way, that puts us at #29 out of 50. So which state is the most patriotic? That'd be Virginia, who comes in at number-one. The least patriotic state? New Jersey-- we're looking at you!
