Seeing as June is National Safety Month, a new survey has ranked all 50 states based on how safe they are. So where does Minnesota rank?

National Safety Month is observed each June by the National Safety Council, as a way to  "focus on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the roads and in our homes and communities."

The gang at WalletHub went ahead and looked at several factors when ranking each state on how safe they are. They looked at  “number of assaults per capita” to “unemployment rate” to “estimated losses from climate disasters,” the site said.

So, how safe is Minnesota-- and just where did we rank compared to the other states? Turns out, we're fairly safe here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, coming in at number 7 on their list of safe states.

In fact, only Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont ranked higher than Minnesota did. According to the site, Minnesota ranks 3rd in car accident safety, 4th in safety from murders, 5th in health insurance, 6th in at-work deaths, 7th in safety from assaults, and 13th in drug abuse.
