The past weekend was a beautiful one for all sorts of activities that took place across southeastern Minnesota. And our Sunday was no exception.

My wife and I had been signed up to run in the Mayo Clinic/Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center 5K, part of Mayo's Heritage Days, which was scheduled to take place at 4pm on Sunday. Of course, long after that run was scheduled, it was announced Miranda Lambert was playing the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato that evening. So, we decided to do both.

We hit the 5K course right at 4pm Sunday, and finished the 3,1 mile run in about 32 minutes. Then, it was the mad dash back to our place to get showered and back on the road to head to Mankato for the 7pm show. Now seeing as Mankato is a little over an hour from our house in northwest Rochester, we figured it'd be close, but we'd probably make it.

Turns out, we did. And Miranda put on a pretty good show. Her 'Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars' Tour also featured Claire Dunn, Courtney Cole and Raelynn, so Miranda didn't take the stage until just before 9pm.

She came right out of the gate with her song Kerosene, and played just about all of her hits. A couple of my favorites were White Liar and Little Red Wagon, so it was cool to get to see her do those songs in person.

It was also cool to hear her do Baggage Claim and Mama's Broken Heart, too. The only hit I was hoping she'd do that she didn't, was Only Prettier.Oh well, maybe next time. Miranda is a great performer, and her 8-piece band,

nailed all her songs. She'll be bringing this same show to the La Crosse Center on October 15th, so if you're a Miranda fan who couldn't see her last night in Mankato, you have another chance.

Overall, it was a fun day-- especially after the running part was over. And, on the drive back from Mankato, we got to witness the Super Blood Moon lunar eclipse, too. Just your typical Sunday in southeast Minnesota...
