Kasson 6th grader, Grace Reed, has a dream that she will be able to bring back something that brought her so much joy when she was younger: a merry-go-round at the Kasson Public Library Park.

A few years ago when the city decided to move the park closer to the library, the merry-go-round was deemed a hazard and had to be removed.

Grace was sad that her favorite merry-go-round had to be removed and now wants to work with the city to get a merry-go-round put back in the park of other kids to enjoy!

Grace recently met with Kasson City and Park leaders to pick a new spot for the merry-go-round that is safe and accessible to everyone. The problem now is finding the money to fund this project. The final quote for this new merry-go-round is around $9,000. Uff dah.

Of course Grace has a plan to raise the necessary funds!

She is hosting a bake sale and silent auction at the Kasson Public Library on May 4th 3PM-7PM.

There have already been donations from companies to the silent auction. Some of the items donated include a two hour cruise, a trail ride and a white water ride.

The city is even helping out with the funding efforts! The City of Kasson said they will match the amount Grace raises at her bake sale and silent auction.

Grace told KTTC, "It means a lot to me, it means a lot for getting it back and also to the kids of Kasson...cause they use it too."
