I took advantage of Sunday's rare respite from our cold November weather and finally got all our outdoor Christmas lights put up. We have some lights on the shrubs, a couple of string of icicle lights along the eves, and a couple of strings along our deck and fence in the backyard. It looks nice, but there aren't a ton of lights-- certainly not as many as this huge oak tree in Bloomington. But will this be the last year for the tree with 40,000 lights?

According to a story in BringMeTheNews.com, the owners of the tree, located on Meadowview Road in Bloomington near the Mall of America, began decorating the tree-- with nearly 40,000 lights on over 500 strings-- back in 2001. But they're apparently selling their home, and even though the lights will go with the home, there's no guarantee the new owners will light them up.

My wife and I went and saw the tree ourselves a few years ago, and it really is something to see!  I hope the new owners, whoever they are, continue the cool holiday tradition.
