Yes, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety has announced they're releasing a new "Play Golf Minnesota" license plate, and it'll be available here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes starting in August.

According to BringMeTheNews.com, "There is an extra cost involved to order the new plates. In this case, buyers will pay a $10 specialty plate fee, plus another $30 which will go to a Minnesota PGA Golf Foundation account to promote the sport among kids and teenagers, according to a Senate bill.

The golf plates were one of four new specialty plates approved by the Legislature last year. The others celebrate female veterans, retired firefighters and hiking."

I'm not much of a golfer, so I won't be ordering the Play Golf Minnesota plates anytime soon. Which shouldn't be much of a shock, if you know me. Back when I lived in Wisconsin, though, the state made special Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger and Milwaukee Brewers Wisconsin license plates all available, along with special plates commemorating each University of Wisconsin location (like my alma mater, UW Eau Claire). I didn't buy those, either. I guess I like to keep my anonymity when I'm behind the wheel.
