Filip Swiergul, who performs almost every Thursday at Goonie's open mic and is also in a wheelchair due to a genetic disorder called osteogenesis imperfecta (a.k.a. brittle bone disease.), is confined to his home right now after his lift van caught on fire.

Filip told KTTC that he saw fire and sparks coming from around the radio and he knew it was something electrical so he had his brother get out and unplug the battery. By the time it was unplugged though the van was already on fire and since it's an electrical problem that caused this that also means the ramp on the van doesn't work anymore.

He also said that "there are other transportation companies but they have certain hours and it’s really busy” making it not as convenient. So right now he's not able to easily leave his home because his lift van was his form of freedom.

Goonie's held a fundraiser to help Filip over the summer called "Funny for Filip." There is also a GoFundMe set up to help Filip get a new lift van and the goal is set at $10,000 right now.

There's also a raffle fundraiser that's happening at Legends Bar and Grill Saturday, Oct. 20th from 6pm - 1am.
