Lois Riess is a ‘Dangerous Fugitive’
Ft Myers (KROC AM News) - Lois Riess is now being described as “a dangerous fugitive.”
Those were the words of a high-ranking law enforcement official in Florida during a news conference Friday on a homicide in Ft. Myers Beach.
Lee County Undersheriff Carmine Marceno told reporters the body of 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson was found in her condo Monday. Marceno says she had been shot. Marceno says the victim’s cash, credit cards, and other identification were missing and her car had been stolen.
Marceno says Riess is the suspect in the killing and that she is wanted on murder and other charges. Marceno says Riess targeted the victim.
Marceno says it’s believed Riess fled Florida and made her way to the Corpus Christi, Texas area. Her current whereabouts are unknown. A nationwide search for her is now underway. Marceno says she is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Riess is also facing murder and other charges in Dodge County for the shooting of her husband David, who was found dead in their home three weeks ago.
Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose also held a news conference to discuss the case today. Much of the information provided had been released previously, but he did disclose the gun used in Florida was the same weapon used to kill David Riess, who had not been seen for a couple weeks before his body was discovered.
Sheriff Rose also noted the next day investigators received a report that Lois Riess had been spotted at a casino in Northwood, Iowa, but she had already left by the time officers arrived. The Escalade she had been driving has been recovered. It was found abandoned at a park in Florida.
Anyone with information that could be helpful to investigators is asked to call the statewide TIP LINE at 877-966-6222. If you actually see Lois Riess, call 911 immediately.
