Saturday, after cleaning off all the mud we acquired running in the Insane Inflatable 5K, my wife and I watched a pretty good movie: McFarland, USA.

It's based on the true story of Frank White, a teacher and coach at tiny McFarland High School, located in the central coast of California, and how he started a cross-country running team that ended up winning the first-ever state title back in 1987.

While the movie varies slightly from the actual story of White's coaching career, it's still pretty close to the real thing, White said in an interview. It's a feel-good movie, safe for the whole family, that we both thought was pretty well done. Especially at the end, where they show the real Frank White, and the members of that 1987 championship team-- and what they're doing today. Many of them are still living in McFarland, and some are even teaching and coaching at the school.

It's available On-Demand now. Here's the trailer...
