A worker at a Rochester construction site was killed Friday.

Police say the deadly accident happened around 12:30 p.m. when the man was hit on the head while working on a hotel project near the intersection of St. Bridget’s Road and Maine Avenue southeast, next to the Shoppes on Maine site.

A spokesman says workers were installing a section of a wall on the 3rd level when the lifting mechanism on the equipment being used to raise the piece apparently dropped and hit the man, who was standing under it.

The name of the 30 year old Utah man has not been released. Police say he was an employee of the Far West construction company.
