We don't quite know how much the donation is, but any bit helps!

Was anyone else ecstatic when they read that Riverside Concerts received a big donation from Mayo Clinic? Last year, I was introduced to Down By The Riverside - and WOW is it fun!!! I'm glad to see that Mayo Clinic recognizes this too.

According to a press release, "General Manager Steven J. Schmidt announced today that Riverside Concerts received an important grant from Mayo Clinic to support its 2018 programming. The grant supports the Artist-in-the-Schools residency program and supports the World Music Series."

This release also included details of a recent study conducted which promoted the fact that concert attendees generally feel happier. While the specific study wasn't mentioned, my guess is that it's this famous Australian one - which states, "A stratified random sample of 1,000 participants was interviewed via telephone. The findings revealed that engaging with music by dancing or attending musical events was associated with higher SWB (subjective wellbeing) than for those who did not engage with music in these forms."

My hope is that this grant means we'll see more concerts and a greater variety of artists in Rochester.
