Memorial Service on Friday For Former Mayo CEO
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A former Mayo Clinic CEO died over the weekend.
The obituary for Dr. William Eugene Mayberry indicates he passed away at his home on Saturday. He was 87 years old. Dr. Mayberry was a US Navy veteran who spent 36 years practicing medicine before his retirement in 1992.
He joined of the Mayo Clinic in 1960 and served as CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of Governors from 1976 through 1987. Under Dr. Mayberry’s leadership, the Mayo Clinic opened medical centers in the Florida and Arizona and combined the operations of St. Mary’s and the Methodist hospitals in Rochester.
A memorial service for Dr. Mayberry will be held Friday morning in the St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel beginning at 10 AM.
