The Rochester School Board last night accepted a gift that will lead to the district’s first artificial turf football field. And it’s a special turf - it came from the Metrodome, which is being demolished. It was used for just three seasons. The turf was acquired by Mayo alumni and the Mayo Touchdown Club. The booster club says the turf will be transported to Rochester in a few weeks in eight semi-trucks and will be installed in time for the fall football and soccer seasons. The club will also pay the installation costs.
