Yes, you read that correctly: A Minnesota lawmaker announced he's leaving the state legislature to spend more time brewing beer... kind of.

Sure, that's a sentence you don't often get to read, but it is true-- more or less. Here's how: According to BringMeTheNews, state representative Mark Anderson, who represents district 9A in Wadena, Todd and Cass counties in central Minnesota, said in a release that he'll be leaving state government when his term expires at the end of the year. He plans to "spend more time with family and giving more attention to the three companies I am running with my wife, Barb," the release said.

So, just where does the whole brewing beer part come in? Well, according to the story, one of the three companies Anderson owns is Gull Dam Brewing in Nisswa, located northwest of Brainerd. So, even though the release doesn't mention it specifically, the story notes that if Anderson wants to "give more attention to the three companies" he's running, then, surely, Gull Dam Brewing would be one of those companies on which he'd be spending more time-- time which could possibly be spent brewing beer.

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? And while that might be a slight exaggeration of what the representative said, I'm hoping that a similar headline could be written about me when I retire-- but instead of brewing it, I'll hopefully be spending more time DRINKING beer!
