Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) -  Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to a federal hate crime for threatening to blow up a Twin Cities mosque.

Federal prosecutors say 57-year-old Daniel Fisher has admitted to a charge of obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs.

He admitted sending a threatening letter to the Tawfig Islamic Center in September of last year. The handwritten letter, filled with profanities and racial and ethnic slurs, included a threat to “blow up your building with all you immigrants in it.”

When he was interviewed by the FBI, Fisher told investigators he was upset the religious community had decided to locate the mosque near his home and that he had become “increasingly angry with Muslims since 9/11.”

The sentencing hearing for Fisher has yet to be scheduled.
