Just how low do you have to be to use counterfeit bills at a kid's Kool-Aid stand?!?

There's no shortage of dumb criminals these days, (which is why we featured this story on Monday's installment of Quick Country 96.5's 'Stupid News'), but this one out of Duluth takes the cake-- er, Kool-Aid.

It's the story of Steven Alan Wakefield, 46, of Duluth, and how he's being charged with two felony counts forgery for trying to pass a fake $20 bill at kid's Kool-Aid stand in Lake Nebagamon (which is located just southeast of Superior, Wis.).

That's right. He was trying to cheat the kids out of money at their Kool-Aid stand. Come on, man!

The Superior-Telegram story said he ordered a glass of Kool-Aid, paid with the fake $20 and then wanted change back-- in real money. The kids' parents called police when they noticed the funny money.

The story went on to say that police then realized Wakefield had also tried to pass of the bogus bills at a garage sale the previous day. They got their man when the victims at both the garage sale and Kool-Aid stand identified Wakefield.

The story also said Wakefield "claimed to be under the influence of drugs at the time and requested a lawyer."

Ya think? Looks like, in the future, instead of making fake bills, he might be making license plates...
