The Rosemount High School Marching Band was notified earlier this week that they'd been selected to appear in the prestigious parade in 2017. According to this WCCO-TV story, a Macy's parade official surprised the band with the announcement during an assembly at the school earlier this week.

"Rosemount High School Marching Band has been selected to represent the great state of Minnesota, and perform in New York City in the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” Wesley Whatley, creative director of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said in the story.

It was such a big announcement, even Gov. Mark Dayton was in attendance. It's just the latest honor for the Rosemount band, however. The story noted that the group has also appeared in Tournament of Roses Parade, WE Day and the World Series. Impressive job, guys!

The story also said it's the first time a Minnesota band has been in the parade since 1989. Check out the entire story HERE.
