Remember that phrase from Top Gun about 'feeling the need...the need for speed?' This Minnesota motorcyclist apparently did.

According to a release from the St. Croix County, Wisconsin, Sheriff's office, Wisconsin State troopers noticed Zachary Mills, 20, of Eden Prairie, speeding on his motorcycle on Monday. In fact, police say they clocked him going about 83 miles an hour along I-94 in the town of Warren.

After deputies attempted to pull him over for speeding, he took off and ended up leading police on a high-speed chase that hit speeds of nearly 132-miles an hour. Mills, of course, ended up losing control of his motorcycle in the town of Hudson, crashed, and was thrown from his cycle.

Luckily, he was wearing a helmet. Still, he complained of leg pain and was taken to a hospital in Wisconsin before being transferred to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The release said charges are pending back in Wisconsin.

132 miles an hour?!? That's fast, alright. When I had my motorcycle, which only had a 650cc engine, there was no way it could go even close to that fast-- not that I would have cranked it up, even if it could have gone that fast. Because while going fast can be a rush, it's the stopping-- and crashing, as Mr. Mills can no doubt attest-- that I didn't want any part of.

I remember the instructor at motorcycle safety course I took saying that motorcycles are really good at two things-- going strait and going fast. It's when you attempt to make a turn, especially when you're going fast, that things can go south in a hurry. (He also said there were two types of motorcyclists: Those who've laid their bike down, and liars. Ha!)
