We've all heard that old question about why the chicken crossed the road, but have you heard the one about the turtle trying to cross the road?

It isn't just a rhetorical question. And, this wasn't just any turtle, mind you. It was a huge turtle, about 2-feet long and weighing in between 30 and 40 pounds. (That's about the size at which our beagle, Chance, weighed in).

This big boy was spotted trying to cross Highway 212 in Eden Prairie, which is a notoriously busy four-lane highway, not too far from the I-494 interchange with southwest of Minneapolis.

Luckily, according to the Eden Prairie Police Department's Facebook page, Community Service Officer Spencer Barrie, who'd only been working for the department since last month, found the turtle, put him in the back of his truck and transported the reptile to a safer location across the highway.

Which is a good thing. I never like to see any kind of wildlife hit by a vehicle, which, seeing how busy Hwy-212 is, would have been a real possibility in this case had Officer Barrie not intervened. Plus, we could all use some good news these days, couldn't we? Well done, Officer Barrie!
