If you happen to have contact with any deputy from the Meeker County, Minnesota sheriff's department, your eyes aren't deceiving you-- they're wearing pink badges.

October is, of course, Breast Cancer Awareness month. And while we're used to seeing the color pink show up in various places during October-- like on the uniform of your favorite NFL team, or on ribbons and pins-- you probably haven't seen a law enforcement officer wearing a pink badge.

But they are this month in Meeker County, Minnesota. According to this KSTP story, the department, located in Litchfield, west of the Twin Cities and about two and half hours from Rochester, had special pink badges made and are wearing them through the month  "as a show of support for those in the community and beyond who are battling breast cancer," the story said.

In addition to regular law enforcement department wording, the badges say "Arrest breast cancer. Unlock the cure." The story explained that the idea behind the pink badges came from a member of the department.

"Inspired by the recent loss of an aunt to breast cancer, Deputy Marc Berris proposed the idea of wearing the pink badge to Sheriff Brian Cruze, who immediately supported the idea," the story said. Check it out...
