Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A World War II veteran from Rochester was honored Friday evening at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Glenn Miller and his wife, June, were selected to be the honorary flag raisers for the singing of the national anthem just before the start of the Twins game against the Detroit Tigers.

Glenn was a Marine and fought in the Pacific theater, which included a number of the amphibious invasions on Japanese-controlled islands that led to some of the fiercest fighting to occur during World War II. June was a Navy Reservist during the war and worked as a yeoman in Washington, D.C.

The Millers, who are both 91-years-old, have been heavily involved in local veterans groups including the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial. They were accompanied to the Twins game by a busload of family, friends and other local veterans.
