Go ahead, enjoy another piece of pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving-- because you won't be able to head to the Mall of America, as the mega mall announced Wednesday it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year.

That's right, Minnesota's own Mall of America said on its Twitter feed that it's staying closed this Thanksgiving Day, to "give this day back to our 15,000 employees and their families." The mall will open again at 5 a.m. on Black Friday.

In recent years since the Great Recession, stores have been trying to jump-start their holiday season by opening earlier and earlier on Black Friday, which meant that many retailers actually opened in the evening on Thanksgiving Day.
