Could Minnesota lower the drinking age to 18? It's a possibility. State Representative Phyllis Kahn has proposed a bill that would allow 18-year-olds to legally drink in bars and restaurants, but they would not be able to buy alcohol.

She cites problems of binge drinking on college campuses and believes this might help alleviate the problem and teach younger people to drink more responsibly.

I personally think it's a good idea. When I was growing up, the drinking age was 18 and we really didn't have any problems. I look at it this way: There are responsible 18-year-olds and irresponsible 18-year-olds, just as there are responsible 50-year-olds and irresponsible 50-year-olds.

If an 18-year-old can strap on a gun and go overseas to defend our freedom, they're old enough and smart enough to have a cold beer legally. God bless our troops and I hope the bill passes! - Alan
