Both the Wisconsin and Minnesota Departments of Transportation are working together to complete construction of the new St. Croix Crossing bridge north of Stillwater, and they just released a cool time-lapse video of the project.

While MnDOT originally released the video back in November, it's recently gotten some new attention, thanks to THIS Facebook post by Tech Insider. It's a cool look at process involved in building the massive bridge, that will span the St. Croix river from Oak Park Heights on the Minnesota side, to St. Joseph on the Wisconsin side.

And while the project, which was specially designed and is being specially constructed to minimize impact along the federally-protected St. Croix River and its shorelines, has been faced some delays, it's still expected to open to traffic in the fall on 2017. When it opens, it'll ease congestion along the existing Minnesota Highway-36 and the Stillwater Lift Bridge, which is scheduled to be converted at that time to a pedestrian/bike facility.
