I still remember when I was in elementary school at Elgin-Millville. Every time some kid had a birthday, they would bring in a treat for the whole class to enjoy. It was always nice to get a Rice Krispie treat in the middle of the school day. we had milk breaks, too.

That's why I find this story so disturbing/stupid, etc...What went wrong? If I would have brought in pencil erasers or something equally lame, my classmates would have hung me up by my underwear in my school locker. - Alan

An elementary school in Burlington, Ohio banned birthday cake and sweets.

The school revised its wellness policy this year and now no food is allowed at birthday celebrations… no cake, no candy and no pizza.

The school says non-food treats are still allowed - for example pencils, erasers or bookmarks.
