A study by the University of Illinois at Chicago reveals that drinking beer makes you smarter. 40 men participated in a bar game in which they were given three words and then asked to complete the pattern with a fourth word. Half the subjects were given two pints of beer; while the other half were given nothing. Those, who drank beer solved 40% more of the problems, and completed their problems 3.5 seconds faster than their sober counterparts.

Researchers at Granada University in Spain have found that drinking beer after working out can be beneficial for the body. Professor Manuel Garzon, who led the study, says beer helps dehydrated people retain liquid better than water alone. The bubbles in beer quench thirst while the carbohydrates make up for burned calories. This is the second study to confirm such findings.

A study by Oregon State University reveals that beer can improve your memory because of a compound found in hops called xanthohumol. Researcher Daniel Zamzow tells CBS they tested mice. “Xanthohumol can speed the metabolism, reduce fatty acids in the liver and, at least with young mice, appeared to improve their cognitive flexibility, or higher level thinking. Unfortunately it did not reduce palmitoylation in older mice, or improve their learning or cognitive performance, at least in the amounts of the compound we gave them.”

A survey by Bristol University reveals that two drinks can make people look more attractive to those, who are boozing. Volunteers drank either vodka or soft drinks before rating the attractiveness of 20 male and 20 female faces. Those, who had been drinking alcohol, scored the faces 10% higher than those who had been drinking soda.
