The expansion of 55th Street in northwest Rochester has caused the dog park, which was located along West Circle Drive near 55th Street and Member's Parkway to close. But, if you've been taking your dog their to get a little exercise, don't despair-- there's a new dog park, already under development here in the Med City.

According to a Rochester Parks and Rec news release, a brand new dog park is currently being worked on-- and is expected to be ready for you and your pooch by the end of the month!

The new park is called River Road Park, and it's located in the northwest quadrant of 62nd Street and West River Road, just north of Essex Park. The release says the city acquired the property this summer, and has been working to get it ready. The park will also contain space for various community garden plots.

The release noted that the park will eventually have three different areas in which dogs will be able to run around, one of which will be open soon. "We anticipate one of the three fenced in dog areas will be available for park use by the end of October," it said.
