Apple is holding another one of it's much-ballyhooed press conferences on Tuesday, where they'll reportedly unveil the new iPhone 6, as well as some sort of 'wearable' device, referred to as the iWatch.  Then, of course, the new devices will be on sale for the rest of us to purchase. And while some people will rush to plunk down their hard-earned money, I won't be one of them.

People who flock to the latest technology are sometimes called 'early adopters.' I guess I'd be a 'late adopter.' I confess I don't know all that much about the new features of the iPhone 6, but my current iPhone 5, despite its being 2 years old now, works fine for me-- when it works, that is.

I'd be more excited about technology if the stuff actually worked. But in my experience, it's still pretty fickle. Trying to connect to wifi, or-- gasp-- using a basic cell signal to run the various apps on my phone still seems to be spotty for me, at best. Internet connections seem to always be slow, and I never seem to be able to log-on or access the apps I want when I need them. Like the Google maps app that won't load or update when I'm in an unfamiliar city and could really use it. Or earlier this week, when health clinic app wouldn't let me log in so I could double check where and when my appointments were scheduled. Thanks for nothing, technology.

The new iPhone also reportedly has a bigger screen-- which is another feature for which I have no use. Call me crazy, but I don't watch TV shows on my phone-- that's why we bought a 42-inch HDTV a few years ago. Plus, a bigger phone is tougher to store in one's pocket, too. And tougher to carry along when you're out jogging or on the mountain bike. (Have you seen the size of these phones some people strap to their arms when they're exercising?!?)

And don't get me started on the 'wearables' craze that the Apple iWatch is supposed to usher in. Am I really THAT addicted-- I mean, connected-- to my mobile device that I have to have it strapped to my wrist at all times? Or try to read emails or other web pages on an even smaller screen that the iWatch reportedly has?  I have trouble reading my phone NOW, although that speaks more to my declining eyesight than it does to technology, I guess.

No, I won't be ordering any new-fangled mobile device anytime soon. I'm already too connected for my own good. I guess that does confirm that I'm a 'late adopter.' Or just old...
