There's a new restaurant coming to downtown Rochester later this spring, but it'll be opening in a familiar space and by familiar owners.

The owners of the City Cafe, a company called Creative Cuisine, told The Med City Beat earlier this week that they will be opening a new restaurant at the City Cafe's site on 1st Ave southwest, that will feature casual, Mexican-style cuisine.

According to the story, Alicia Huseth, City Cafe manager, said "The new restaurant, to be called Hefe Rojo, or 'Red Boss,' will offer a new menu featuring everything from à la carte tacos to fried ice cream."

The story went on to say that the current City Cafe will be shut down for a few weeks in March for the conversion into the new Hefe Rojo restaurant. Huseth also said that company plans to keep most of its workforce after the new restaurant opens.

The City Cafe has been in business in downtown Rochester since 2002, the story says. Huseth told The Med City Beat the reason for the change is that the "City Cafe, which has been serving up American cuisine in an upscale environment, had simply 'run its course.'"

Creative Cuisine, the story noted, also owns other familiar Rochester restaurants like Newt's and the Redwood Room, and that the Newt's location above City Cafe won't be affect by the new restaurant.
