If your idea of a great meal includes a big 'ol ribeye or New York strip, you'll be happy to know there's a new steakhouse set to open here in Rochester.

And while the menu will be new, the restaurant itself, won't be. That's right, according to Jeff Kiger's 'Heard On The Street' column, the Lord Essex restaurant, located in the Kahler Grand Hotel in downtown Rochester, is in the beginning of transforming itself into a prime steak house.

The column says that the restaurant is seizing on an opening created when Michael's restaurant closed in December of 2014. Since then, of course, the downtown Rochester restaurant scene hasn't had a classic steak house.

Lord Essex is out to change that. The column says that two new chefs have been hired and are hard at work creating a new menu that's in line with what a classic, prime steak house serves. They plan to offer "eight prime cuts of steak in different portions," the column said.

The change is underway right now, and the restaurant plans a relaunch sometime this summer, the story said. It also noted that there will be other changes, too. "Diners should expect an opportunity to 'meet the meat' before getting their menus. Servers will roll a cart up to the table to display the prime cuts as well as lobsters and examples of Lord Essex's jumbo, one-pound baked potatoes," the story said.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for it to open. There's nothing like sinking your teeth into a big 'ol prime rib, fresh off the grill. Make mine medium rare, if you would!
