Olmsted County Board Names Devlin’s Successor
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Board today officially promoted Heidi Welsch to take over the job County Administrator when Richard Devlin retires this fall. Welsch began working for Olmsted County in 2013 as Community Services’ Director of Family Support and Assistance before she began serving as the Deputy County Administrator last October.
“Since that time,” states Olmsted County Board Chairperson Ken Brown, “we have observed Dr. Welsch to be a highly talented, experienced and committed leader. She demonstrates a remarkable degree of integrity and drive.”
Welsch’s previous work history includes positions in both Hennepin and Dakota Counties, the State University System, the Metropolitan Council and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. She also earned a Doctorate in Public Administration from Hamline University.
Welsch is scheduled to officially succeed Devlin on November 1st. He is retiring from a job he has held since 1973, making Devlin the longest serving county administrator in Minnesota, and possibly the United States. His final day on job will be October 31st.
