A Rochester man has admitted to a simple robbery charge for his involvement in a shooting last summer.

19-year-old Elijah Golden was originally charged with simple robbery and second-degree assault. He was accused of arranging a meeting that led to what police have described as a drug-related robbery. A man who was with Golden, 17-year-old Aries Candler, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot a man in the chin during a confrontation in the 400 block of 13th Avenue Northwest on July 30th.

Police learned about the shooting after the victim was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Candler was only recently arrested and the case against him is pending. At least two other people are also facing charges for their alleged involvement in the crime. Golden is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19th.
