It would only make sense that "The Purple One" would get his own shade in the color palate one day... Well that day is finally here.

News broke Monday that The Pantone Color Institute, who also partnered with Prince’s estate, created a custom purple called Love Symbol #2, a.k.a. the unpronounceable symbol he adopted as his name in 1993.

The specific hue was taken from the custom purple Yamaha piano he was set to take with him on tour before his untimely passing in 2016 at the age of 57.

“We are honored to have worked on the development of Love Symbol #2, a distinctive new purple shade created in memory of Prince, ‘the purple one,’” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “A musical icon known for his artistic brilliance, Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style. Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself.”

If you've got a good eye, and you're a die-hard fan, then this shade should look familiar since Prince had been using this particular shade of purple since his release of his 1984 classic, Purple Rain.

I love the color and especially the name! However, I also would have accepted "Artist Formerly Known As Prince" or a play on words from the aforementioned movie, "Purple Reign"... because, reasons.
