Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Rochester teenager is being given a chance to avoid prison for his role in a drug-related shooting.

18-year-old Aries Candler has been given a stayed four-year prison term and has been placed on probation for the next 20 years for his conviction on a first-degree aggravated robbery charge. He earlier pleaded guilty through a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of a second-degree assault charge.

Candler was accused of shooting a man in the chin during what police described as a drug-related robbery in the 400 block of 13th avenue northwest in late July 2014.
