Rascal Flatts Helps Cancer Patient

Rascal Flatts visited a teenager battling a terminal form of cancer.

15-year-old Taylor Goethals is currently at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she is receiving chemotherapy for recurring cancer that has spread to her lungs. The young woman has been given only a 10 percent chance of living more than five years.

When her mom found out Rascal Flatts were performing at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in nearby Tampa, Fla., last Friday, she posted on Facebook her desire to let her daughter meet the band. Thanks to the power of social media, it worked.

Band members Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney spent about 30 minutes with the teen, chatting with her and her parents, then prayed with her before they left to do their show.
