Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider cases are being recalled according to a press release from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

 

The reason is that some bottles showed signs of re-fermentation which could result in increased carbonation levels which could cause bottles to overflow or burst when opened. There is no health risk. There have been no reported cases of illness or injuries.

 

 

To find out if your case or 12-pack is affected look for:

"Freshness Matters" codes,  beginning with "June 2016 1665C" and immediately followed by 4 digits between 0001 through 0700

"Freshness Matters" codes beginning with "June 2016 1805C" and immediately followed by 4 digits between 0001 through 0545

Look for these codes on individual bottles:

  • Inkjet code printed directly on the glass, on the "shoulder" of the bottle just below the neck label within the ranges of C16650001 through C16650530
  • Inkjet code within the ranges C18050001 through C18050415
  • The states affected by the recall are: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

UPDATE: We were contacted Friday afternoon by the distributor of Angry Orchard beverages for southeastern Minnesota and the Rochester area and he had some good news. He assured us that while Minnesota is on the recall list, none of the questionable cases of Angry Orchard are located in the southeastern part of the state...
