Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The man arrested for the double fatal stabbing of two men at the Rochester Salvation Army’s Castleview Apartments may never experience freedom again.

The Olmsted County Attorney’s office intends to convene the county grand jury to consider 1st-degree murder charges against 53-year-old Glenn Johnson.  A 1st-degree murder conviction would mean a life sentence without a chance for early release.

Johnson was arraigned Tuesday on three counts of 1st-degree murder and two counts of 2nd-degree murder. His bail was set at $3,000,000. A grand jury must decide if the 1st-degree murder charges are justified.

Johnson is accused of attacking 57-year-old Phillip Hicks while the victim was in his wheelchair in the 4th-floor hallway of the building. Hicks suffered one stab wound to his back. The force of the thrust was strong enough to knock Hicks out of his wheelchair.

According to the complaint, Johnson then went into the apartment of 45-year-old Eric Flemming and attacked him.  He suffered three stab wounds to the chest and 3 slash wounds to his left arm. Both men were later pronounced dead at St. Marys Hospital.

A security officer at Castleview told officers that he was making his way to the 4th floor when he met Johnson coming down the stairs and that he was “giggling."
