Rochester Area Jobless Rate Rises to 3.3%

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Seasonal factors pushed unemployment rates higher across southeastern Minnesota in June.

The most recent jobs report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for the Rochester area rose two-tenths of a point last month, but the 3.3-percent rate for Olmsted County was down two-tenths of a point from June of last year. It was also the lowest the rate has been in the month of June since 2006, and remained the lowest rate in the region.

Winona County saw its jobless rate climb six-tenths of a point last month, which was the largest increase in the region, while Wabasha and Fillmore counties had the region’s highest unemployment rates at 4-percent.
