Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -The public is invited to an event in Rochester Wednesday evening to hear more about ranked choice voting.

The event is being organized by the local  League of Women Voters chapter. It will be held at 127 LIVE, beginning at 6:30 PM. Presenters will be Jeanne Massey, Executive Director of Fair Vote MN and Deb Brinkman, of the LWV chapter in St. Louis Park.

The Rochester Charter Commission has been discussing a possible switch in the city’s election process to ranked choice voting, which is now being used in Minneapolis and St Paul.

Ranked choice voting allows ranking multiple candidates in a race by preference. It does away with primaries but would require a new voting ballot format.
