Rochester City Administrator Decision Pending
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - There is a chance the Rochester City Council could decide on Steve Kvenvold’s successor on Monday.
After interviewing the three finalists for the City Administrator position a couple weeks ago, a decision was made to recess, rather than adjourn, the City Council meeting on July 17th to create an opportunity for action if members of the Council are prepared to reach a consensus on offering the job to one of the candidates. If not, the meeting would likely be recessed until next Monday to give the elected officials additional time to ponder their choice among Albert Lea City Manager Chad Allen, Chisago County Administrator Bruce Messelt, and Stephen Rymer, the current City Manager of Morgan Hill, California.
Once a selection is made, City Attorney Terry Adkins would negotiate an employment contract with the person chosen for the position and a formal vote on hiring the new City Administrator would be placed on the City Council agenda.
Kvenvold retired at the end of May after serving as Rochester City Administrator since 1979.
