Rochester Enjoys Record Black Friday Heat

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Yes, it was warm Friday - warm enough to shed coats and forget about the recent cold weather the Rochester area has had to endure.

The city’s official high temperature Friday soared to 61 degrees, which set a new record for Nov 24 (previous record was 60, set in 2011). It was the warmest Rochester has been since Oct 22 when it also reached 61.

Several other cities also set records on Friday, including La Crosse at 65 degrees. Austin had a high of 63, Dodge Center reached 61 and Preston had a high of 60. The National Weather Service office in La Crosse says the warmest town in its coverage area was Boscobel, WI at 68 degrees.

It will be about 20 degrees cooler Saturday but warmer air returns Sunday with highs around 50 and back to near 60 Monday.

It appears above normal temperatures will continue through the final days of November after a very chilly run that included below average weather during the first 13 days of the month. Through Friday, there have been just 6 days of above normal temps during November.
