We may just be getting the holiday season in full swing, but the Rochester Honkers are already looking forward to spring-- and next year's schedule of games.

In a release on its website Tuesday, the Honkers, which play in the collegiate-level Northwoods League, announced their full schedule for the 2017 season.

Rochester's home team opens the season on May 30th at Mayo Field against the Mankato Moondogs. They'll go on to play 72 games over 76 days next summer, playing 36 games here in Rochester as well as 36 games on the road.

The Honkers have won the Northwoods League championship five times-- in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2006, 2009. And, did you know they're one of only two original teams from the league's inaugural 1994 season that are still playing today?

The only other team is the Wisconsin Woodchucks, who play in my hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin. (Which is also where the Northwoods League All-Star game will be held next year.)
