Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester has moved up a bit on the Census Bureau’s ranking of U.S. cities based on total population.

The latest population estimates from the Census put the city’s headcount at 115,733 people as of July of last year. The population grew by 1,769 residents or a little over 1.5-percent. The population growth the previous year was around 1.6-percent and Rochester’s population has grown by nearly 9,000 people since the 2010 Census, or about 8.3-percent.

Rochester is now listed as the 244th largest city in the nation. It was ranked 246th last year and 250th in 2015.

Rochester remains the third largest city in Minnesota. St. Paul is ranked 63rd nationally with a population estimated at over 306,000 and Minneapolis saw its population grow by over 7,500 people last year to 422,000, which makes it the 46th largest city in the U.S.
